EchoSunArt is an independent studio based in France, built around one obsession: African places, and the frustration of never finding them done justice on a wall.
Why we started
Search for African wall art online and you mostly find a continent flattened into cliché: the same silhouetted acacia, the same tribal pattern with no place attached to it. We wanted the opposite — art that starts from a real, named place and tells its story.
How we work
Every piece begins with one specific place — a painted pirogue on the pink water of Lac Retba, Zuma Rock catching the last light above Abuja, a carved door in the shade of a Stone Town street. The place comes first. The artwork follows.
Each image is an original digital artwork created by EchoSunArt, then printed as a fine-art poster. Every print comes with the history and meaning of the place it shows.
Seven countries, twenty-one places
We launched with Morocco, Algeria, Senegal, Egypt, Nigeria, Kenya and Tanzania — three places each. We would rather do seven countries properly than thirty superficially, and we add a country only when we have something worth saying about it.
How the prints are made
Each piece is printed on heavyweight archival matte paper with pigment inks, at the production facility closest to you. Shorter journeys, less packaging in transit, and prints that arrive flat and undamaged.
Still independent
There is no warehouse and no call centre. If you write to us, you reach the person who chose and made the image.
